Saturday, February 28, 2015 9:30am-11:30am Dr. Woodruff Imberman will present a slide show/talk “How To Make Your Rock River Area Lilies Great”.  Woodruff Imberman is past president of the Lily Society and lectures widely on lilies at garden clubs throughout the Midwest. He is the author of numerous articles in regional and national horticultural magazines on lilies, is an amateur lily hybridizer, an accredited international lily judge, and has won many awards for his lilies. Those attending the talk will learn simple propagation techniques for growing lilies, hear about the wide variety of lilies that flourish in our area, and how to design a garden with lilies so some are in bloom all Summer long. Klehm would like to share this great community event: Native Woodland Plant Sale The annual Native Woodland Plant Sale, sponsored by the Rock River Valley Chapter of Wild Ones, is beginning just in time for spring. Not only are these native plants a charming addition to the shaded yard, but when properly sited and established, they are tough and carefree, needing neither fertilizer nor constant watering. In addition, native plants provide the food and shelter that butterflies, other insects and humming birds require. Plants offered this year including Wild Geranium, Shooting Star, Wild Ginger, Large-flowered Trillium, Rue Anemone, Blue Cohosh and many more. There is also a great selection of ferns and sedges. Volunteer Appreciation

Thank you to all of our wonderful, supportive volunteers! A Volunteer Appreciation Brunch was held on Sunday, November 23rd at the arboretum.  We are so grateful for the countless hours put into the gardens and arboretum with volunteer time.  Weeding, dividing, ticket sales, planting and painting (yes, painting!) are among the long list of tasks completed by our volunteers.  Awards were given out to three special people whose contributions did not go unnoticed.  The recipients are listed below.
