2015 Summer Appeal

Dear Friends of Klehm, Have you been to Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden lately?  It has been a busy spring! The garden renovations that began last year around the Clarcor Pavilion are looking great with new plants and features being added.  The new “Contemporary Perennial Garden” developed in cooperation with Roy Diblik of Northwind Perennial Farm, has been completed by a team of 60 great volunteers.  The volunteer effort recently planted 4,000 plants consisting of 40 species of grasses, sedges and perennials covering 14,000 square feet.  This new featured garden located at the back doors of the Visitor Center will provide a changing mosaic of color and texture through the seasons and provide beauty and valuable habitat for native pollinators and butterflies.Klehm depends on the generosity of its contributors to help accomplish new features and maintain the...

The juried fine art show will feature a wide variety of fine art in many media available to purchase: photograph, ceramics, fiber/paper, glass, mixed media, painting, sculpture, wearable art and more. Young Explorers – Winged Wonders...

University of Illinois Extension and Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden invite kids ages 6 to 12 to be Young Explorers this summer at Klehm Arboretum, 2715 S. Main St., Rockford. Young Explorers is a new summer program co-sponsored by Klehm Arboretum and U of I Extension. Sessions will be led by U of I Extension staff with help from a Master Gardener, Master Naturalist and Klehm Arboretum volunteers, and will feature fun, interactive and educational activities designed to celebrate nature while exploring the beautiful grounds at Klehm Arboretum. Classes will meet on Tuesday mornings, July 14 through August 4, 2015, from 9 to 11 a.m. Young Explorers may sign up for as few or as many sessions as you wish.
