Planting Day Thank You!

Tuesday, June 16, 2015 by

Over 50 volunteers showed up on Saturday, June 13th to plant 4,000 perennials in our 13,000-square-foot Contemporary Perennial Garden. The “Know Maintenance” site was planned for minimal weed invasion and optimal beauty by Roy Diblick, noted plantsman and designer. The hillside is slowly coming alive, despite the muddy conditions that limited planting efforts that Saturday. Volunteers will continue to finish planting over the course of the week, weather pending. Imagine what it will look like next year: blooms of yellow and purple intermixed with grass texture.  Some of the plants used are: Coreopis golden shower, Stachys hummelo, Allium summer beauty, Panicum ‘Heavy Metal’ Grass, Echinacea simulta and Salvia Burgundy Candles among many others. Funds to purchase the plant stock were received via a grant of $23,500 from the CN EcoConnexions “From the Ground Up” program...
