November 1, 2011 – March 31, 2012 Open Tuesday – Saturday 9am to 4pm   During the winter season Klehm does not offer riding tours. However, we invite our visitors to enjoy self-guided walking tours, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Our paved paths are plowed and accessible to all visitors. This is not a Klehm Arboretum event, but we would like our members to know about this special meeting. South Main Street Revitalization Strategy Please join Alderman Hervey, City staff and a team of consultants from both the Lakota Group and Belmont Sayre, at a special 5th Ward meeting to present the final draft of the South Main Revitalization Strategy, as well as preliminary design concepts for the Barber-Colman complex.  The meeting will be held at Klehm Arboretum on Thursday, October 27th at 6:00pm. (Park in the church lot off Spring Creek Rd.)   To show their love for community trees, students of Montessori Private Academy will embrace a huge, ancient bur oak in a warm ‘group hug’. The tree, at the intersection of Alpine and Spring Creek Rd is a community landmark. The ‘hug’ is part of the launch of Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden’s new Community Trees Advocate Program which will help advocate for trees and encourage tree planting and care. Klehm Arboretum is proud to host a three month botanical quilt installation Through the Branches – A Quilter’s Perspective.   Don’t miss this exceptional display of birds, flowers, animals and trees depicted in appliqué by Quilt Artist Claire Powers. A collection of 20 quilt pieces of intricate detail with titles like “Every Garden needs a Prince Charming”, “Autumn Nosegay” and “The Case of the Vanishing Vase” will thrill and excite viewers of all ages.
