Wild Ones: Native Woodland Plant Sale
Klehm would like to share this great community event :
Now through Monday, April 21, 2014
The annual Native Woodland Plant Sale, sponsored by the Rock River Valley Chapter of Wild Ones, is beginning just in time for spring. Not only are these native plants a charming addition to the shaded yard, but when properly sited and established, they are tough and carefree, needing neither fertilizer nor constant watering. In addition, native plants provide the food and shelter that butterflies, other insects and humming birds require.
Twenty-five flowering plants are offered this year including Hepatica, Blue Cohosh, Jack- in- the-pulpit, Trillium, Virginia bluebells, Dutchman’s breeches and many more. There is also a great selection of ferns and sedges. An e-form of the sale brochure is available click here for your copy. For a paper copy or to have a copy e-mailed, please contact Barbara Flores, sale coordinator, at [email protected] or call 815-289-8602. All inquiries are most welcome.
Funds raised by this and other native plant sales (prairie and trees and shrubs) support the meeting programs as well as the environmental projects of Wild Ones. Meetings are usually held the third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for browsing the lending library, the merchandise tables and the displays. Unless otherwise stated, we meet at Rock Valley College, 3301 N Mulford Rd, Rockford, Illinois 61114, in the Woodward Technology Center.
