Hiking for Hounds – The Costume Contest
Sunday, October 13, 2013
10am – 2pm | Contest at 1pm
Bring your costumed canine friends to spend a day enjoying and exploring our entire 155 acres of gardens and grounds. We have picnic sites and Coley’s Cooler will be on hand serving hot dogs. At 1pm that day, dog owners are encouraged to enter their furry friends into a free costume contest. Prizes will be awarded, and everyone will be able to take home good memories and pictures. In addition, there will be vendors with pet-friendly products to visit and an adoption event featuring PAWS, Good Shepherd Animal Sanctuary, Cause for Paws Rescue and Angels for Animals.
This event is a fun way to build awareness and support for a good cause. Visitors are encouraged to offer cash donations to support Kibble Korner, Rockford’s pet food pantry. Kibble Korner has a mission to keep our area’s pets fed and in the homes they know and love. As families struggle with the loss of jobs, your help can make all the difference in sparing children, parents, and the family pet the heartache of separation. Cash donations allow Kibble Korner to purchase pet food at a discount, so your dollars go much further. Find out more about this great volunteer-run organization at kibblekorner.com.
Klehm Arboretum welcomes friendly, leashed dogs all year round, but during Hiking for Hounds the entrance fee is half-price (and pooches are always free, of course).
Half Price Admission: $3 adults, $1.50 seniors, kids and students. Members Free
