Join the USGBC – Illinois Chapter’s, Rockford/Northern Illinois Branch for From Green Roofs to Fields of Flowers – Designing, Specifying, Installing and Managing the LEED Landscape. Utilizing the Sustainable Sites Initiative guidelines and 22 years of ecological restoration experience, we will discuss the reasons for sustainable landscaping and how best to achieve and maintain ecological stability on new and redeveloped sites. Green Roofs and native flora, bio-swales, erosion control and storm water manage- ment are just some of the pieces that go into solving the water quality issues being addressed by civic leaders, property owners and land developers, scientists, health care providers, educators and business leaders.
Because public perception of restored areas is at risk, it is critical that these concerns are taught by those recognized for excellence in the industry. Material and contractor specification will be discussed in depth to insure an understanding of what criteria must be met for long term viability.
Before and after photos, successful and failed restorations photos and land plan examples will be presented and reviewed for a greater awareness of ecological restoration done right.
Speakers:
Jack Pizzo – President, Pizzo and Associates
Andy Stahr – General Manager/Western Territory, Pizzo and Associates
Grace Koehler – Sales and Marketing Manager, Pizzo Native Plant Nursery
